LAWRENCE
DINING
This proposal, for a Lawrence restaurant, is located in a former
car dealership built in the 1950's. Reusing a building in downtown
Lawrence, one of the most viable downtown's in America, is a possibility
we are always interested in. This building, due to its generous
square footage, is to include retail and the restaurant on the
street level and living units on the upper story. Parking is available
in the adjoining city lot. The proposal pushes the city and their
design guidelines that make it clear downtown buildings are to
be faux historic. The project uses perforated screens to filter
the harsh west sun and to give a human scale to the otherwise
automobile showroom scale of the building.
