THE FORUM at MARVIN HALL
Rockhill and Associates was the architect of record for this Studio 804 project.
Located off historic Jayhawk Boulevard, The Forum is an addition to the historic School of Architecture building Marvin Hall. It was conceived in 2004 by John Gaunt, Dean the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Design to address the school’s critical need for an auditorium for lecture courses and guest speakers, while also providing a separate breakout jury space for student reviews and presentations. In 2014 he began to work with Rockhill and Associates and Studio 804 to realize this vision. The building utilizes emerging technologies, passive design strategies, and energy-efficient mechanical systems. The space where The Forum attaches to Marvin hall has become a commons space that serves as a foyer as well as a much needed lounge for the students and faculty of the program.
