PRAIRIE HOUSE
This house nestles into the grasses on open, rolling land west of Lawrence, Kansas. The simple form is inspired by the common industrial /agricultural buildings of our region and their elementary relationship to the ground and sky. Visually anchoring the form to the horizon are the continuous louvers that provide shading from the intense summer sun. To bring the prairie inside there are continuous windows set into galvanized steel frames. The custom made arched steel trusses and a gently curving wall of glass and steel define the interior spaces.
