HILLCREST HOUSE
The clients wanted a tall house to occupy a hilltop location with multiple layers of up/down and in/out spaces not unlike the farms they both grew up on in western Kansas. We fit the building amongst the site’s established trees that had surrounded house on the site that had been demolished. The exterior cladding is regionally quarried Kansas limestone. The tower at the heart of the building acts as links between the public area used for entertaining and private realm of offices and bedrooms. It has a operable cover on top of the tower that creates shaded roof top deck during the day and viewing platform for stargazing when the cover is rolled to the side.
