LONGVIEW ARCHES

This arch is one of two that frame the entrances to the 1800 acre Longview Farm Estate of Kansas City lumber baron, Henry Long. Starting in 1913 he built a mansion and 50 other buildings with 2,000 workers in 18 months. The farm has since been broken up into various parcels including a college campus and a recreational lake. A major development, New Longview, necessitated the relocation of an arch. We picked the arch up and relocated it to a still prominent, but safer location and restored it to its original condition.
