THE EUDORA GATEWAY

The city of Eudora, Kansas approached us to help establish a vision for the future of their Main Street and the city’s CPA Park. Downtown has an effective gateway on the northern end with two historic buildings creating a clear transition from the greenspace and industry that lines the Kansas River. At the southern end, due to buildings that did not respond to Main Street, the demolition of others and a vacant city owned fire station the downtown has no clear terminus. The CPA park has the potential to engage this end of downtown in much stronger manner. If it were combined with the creative rehabilitation of the fire station the replacement of a defunct car wash with a building that has street presence the three could combine to create a southern gateway. We created a series of plans and images to represent this as well as improvements to the city park with new structures throughout. The city of Eudora will use them to apply for grants and raise funds for the work.
