MAINE STREET RESTORATION
This house built in 1906 needed to be updated. The attic space had been roughly finished but was inadequately conditioned and was found to have little or no insulation in the roof and walls. To meet code the space was properly insulated and the deteriorated windows were replaced with energy star rated units that meet egress requirements. Now this space holds the master bedroom suite and an office space as well as a second bathroom. The rest of house was guided by the careful installation of contemporary materials into the existing century old fabric. The entertainment room for example, includes backlighted polycarbonate panels in custom steel frames inserted inside the existing plaster walls and trim.
